Stranger Than Fiction: PSW Elder Abuse, Dismissal and Trial

Stranger Than Fiction: PSW Elder Abuse, Dismissal and Trial

On the heals of the horrific & noteworthy National news story created by the filmed abuse at St. Joseph’s in Peterborough, Ontario;

the independent Cornwall Free News has posted a two-part story about a specific case of Elder Abuse by a PSW.

Reading more like a dime pocket novel or an episode of a sleazy political television show, the story outlines the abuse of an client–tied to a table by a PSW, the homes attempt to sweep the incident under the carpet, the news being brought to light, the eventual firing of the whistle blower, Diane Shay, not only a nurse but at the time the City of Cornawll’s health & safety officer, and finally a court battle around the illegal firing–in which the city entered a guilty plea.

The two-part series was written by an Anonymous author, fearing reprisal from the power’s that be in Cornwall city hall.

It’s really just an amazing, eye opening article that illustrates the length’s some will go to quiet dissenters within the health care rank & file.

Please share the original two-part story with friends, families and co-workers. Abuse of power at this level, geared towards Health Care workers simply attempting to do the right thing, should not be tolerated.
