Nova Scotia CCA & PSW schools, job sources and information

The provincial designation for the industry is CCA (Continuing Care Assistant). The program was created within the province in 2000, combining previous destinations such as PCW, HSW & HHP.

The certification process is different than other provinces. Various community & private colleges hold courses, as well as privately held (licensed) employers such as nursing homes.

The certification itself is regulated by the HANS (Health Association of Nova Scotia), and consists of 500+ hours of theory plus 300+ hours of practical in-field placement.

Successful completion of certification allows graduates to work within health care settings such as long-term care facilities.
